När man ger sig in i den virtuella världen så stöter man på olika “typer” av användare. Här kommer en kort genomgång av några av dessa typer.
De hjälpsamma
Nästan alla områden har en eller flera personer som anstränger sig lite extra för att besökarna ska känna sig välkomna och finna sig till rätta. Man blir glatt överaskad över hur många som faller i den här kategorin. Man kan anta att det skapar ett syfte med tiden i Second Life att hjälpa andra. De hjälpsamma är grunden när man skapar ett community.
De kommersiella
Många som ger sig in i Second Life gör det efter att ha hört om någon som tjänat stora pengar i den virtuella världen. Sanningen är att det krävs minst lika mycket arbete i Second Life som i den verkliga världen för att tjäna pengar. Detta hindrar inte att det finns många kommersiella aktörer som gett sig i kast med att utforska vilka möjligheter till kommersiell entreprenörskap det finns i den virtuella verkligheten. Många stora företag har lagt miljontals kronor på sin närvaro i Second Life och många små företag har följt efter eller startats i dess spår.

While browsing around the list of features in YouTube I stumbled across an interesting one. I found out that you can make a custom player of one of your playlists and generate the code to show it on your own page. Let’s see how it works.
Medans jag kolladelite bland features på Youtube så hittade jag en intressant. Du kan nu skapa en personlig spelare utifrån någon av dina playlists.
Now I’ve found out that I can blog videos on here directly from YouTube without leaving the site. This text is also written directly on YouTube. It works on several of the popular blog sites as well as on your own WordPress installation. Just press the Post to Blog link under a video on YouTube and you are on your way! =D
This feature would get a 5 star rating if I could add a category for video blogging. [rating:4.5]
My current experiment is to see if I can actually make any money from blogging. So far, after a few days of using Google Adsense, I am closing in on $2!!! Well, the nice part about this is that I havn’t done a lot of work, except installing everything wich took an evening of fun internet research.

Mitt nuvarande experiment är att se om jag faktist kan tjäna några pengar på att blogga. Efter några dagar med Google Adsense (googles reklamprogram) så närmar jag mig 2 dollar!!! Den ljusa sidan är att jag faktist inte gjort särskilt mycket arbete utöver att installera det hela, något som tog ungefär en kväll av underhållande internet-research.

I don’t tweet through my mobile much since here in Sweden it costs to much to send an SMS to a UK number every time you want to update Twitter. Now I just might start =) I’ve found two services that makes it possible for me to update twitter through mail wich makes it very cheap to update from my mobile.
Mail2Twitter
First I found the Mail2Twitter service wich worked well enough. It updated my status and all I had to do was to mail their mailaddress with my username and….password…in the status and my tweet in the body. It worked but it took 5 min to update and I wasn’t really comfortable sending my password everytime I wanted to tweet.

Luckily for me I found a second service as well. EmailTwitter has the same service as Mail2Twitter but with a few additions. First of all you can register your Twitter and mail details on their webpage and then you don’t have to send your password when mailing anymore…big bonus. Also EmailTwitter only took 40 seconds to update my twitter status! As if that wasn’t good enough you can also get your timeline or your private messages
I suggested the other day to a friend that she should use the Twitter system for coordination in a game she is playing. The game in question is The Reincarnation, a web based strategy game where you fight wars between guilds of players.
A guild of players in a web based game encounter some problems when wars drag out over the period of weeks or even months. One of the major problems is how to coordinate the troops. Different guilds use different systems to solve this problem. The moste used are:
- IRC You demand of your players to idle in an IRC channel and thus they are somewhat available when they sit by their computer.
- MSN A messenger is a good way to see if someone is actually online.
- Forum In a forum you discuss strategic or tactical options and also you inspire the troops from here.
- Mail While at work you can’t always take part of forums and such but with a mail you can still relay information and/or give orders.
These systems are only tools and how effective they are depens on how your guild is built. Some ways I’ve seen working are:

This is posted through MSN messenger using the service imified.com. It’s the same server I use to update my twitter status through MSN. Not the most advanced function in the world but just the fact that it works gives it a pretty high score. [rating:4.5]
